Kimaragang
Kimaragang is a combination of two words 'Aki' and 'Maragang,' thus, becoming Aki Maragang. It was shortened to Kimaragang.
Aki means grandfather or any male ancestor.
Maragang is believed to be the name of the earliest-known ancestor of the ethnic people (natives) of North Borneo as it was then called or even before it was given any specific name. The name 'Maragang' is thought to have come the word 'aagang' in Kadazan or 'aragang' in Dusun. It means ''red' referring to the colour of the skin of Maragang which was reddish.
Maragang is said to have lived near the foothills of Mount Kinabalu. His four children migrated to different parts of North Borneo, now Sabah. Almost all of the native tribes in Sabah, but excluding the Muruts, are the descendants of Kimaragang, so it is said.
There is a native tribe at Kudat calling itself 'Kimaragang.' They are the descendants of Runsud the oldest son and child of Maragang.
